TUA: “Watching with the naked eye can cause permanent damage”
The Turkish Space Agency stated that there may be permanent damage to the retina while watching the solar eclipse and said:
“Watching a solar eclipse directly with the naked eye can damage the retina of the eye (the part of the eye responsible for direct vision) and in the worst case can even lead to blindness. Looking at the heavy light from the sun even for just a few seconds can cause permanent damage to the retina. Special solar eclipse glasses designed for this should be used while watching the solar eclipse. Many people use sunglasses or photo negatives, but they are not effective at all. Professional astronomers will observe with h-alpha filters attached to telescopes.
Although the solar eclipse is a natural event, it is believed that it can have some negative effects on human health (pregnant women may be affected, digestive disorders may be experienced, etc.). However, it should be noted that none of these beliefs are true and have no scientific support. The only truth is that you shouldn’t look at the eclipse with the naked eye.”
